Alice in WonderLand
23:20 // Saturday, February 27
A movie adapted from the "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", a 1865 novel written by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll.
My favourite character in the story would be the Cheshire Cat. One would wonder, why the cat? Why not Alice, the Mad Hatter or even Tweedledee and Tweedledum? The deepest impression left behind by the story was the huge grin of the Cheshire Cat. It constantly grins, disappear and reappear whenever it likes, sometimes leaving its grin behind. The Cheshire Cat is the only character in Wonderland who actually listens to Alice. With his remarks, he teaches Alice the ‘rules’ of Wonderland, giving her insight in how things work down there. It could be my love for animals like stray cats and dogs, since there is no dog in Alice in Wonderland (or that I did not even notice of its existence even if there is one). It is always the little things that one failed to notice to make one fall in love with another character =). It is the grin of the cat that makes me fall in love with the cat <33. The Cheshire Cat's grin is reminiscent of the vagaries of human character or of a trickster. It makes one wonder if the cat is a friend or a foe, telling the truth or lying blindly. Quoting from the book: "I have often seen a cat without a grin but never a grin without a cat."
