Lunch at Coriander Leaf Bistro
23:19 // Tuesday, June 28
Tucked in a modest shop-house building at Clarke Quay, across the river, a short journey away from Liang Court and right beside IndoChine's Forbidden City.
There's something simple yet elegant about Coriander Leaf... The high ceiling gives a spacious feel with sufficient personal space. Sunlight pouring through the large windows that overlooked the river provides warmth & comfort. The raw concrete floor transport us back to the olden days, where everything is so simple yet practical. The ambience is delightful & much enjoyed, light-hearted and all woes & worries seems so distanced. I guess, the ambience at night would be better, with dimmed lightings, soft jazz music & neon lights from the building opposite... ![]() Decided to try out this restaurant after I won myself a food voucher by participating in Clarke Quay's contest -- kind of a simple birthday lunch with Mum... So I placed a reservation for 3 pax. Upon entrance of the restaurant, the water feature & chandelier brought a calming effect, the mural wall did a simple introduction, and while climbing the flight of stairs that showcases the restaurant's awards and accolades, it makes one wonder what kind of world will we be brought into... When I reached the end of the steps, I was greeted by a Lady whom I assume to be the restaurant's manager. She checked for my reservation & brought us to a table by the window overlooking the river, and presented us with the menus before leaving us to decide our orders. Typical mum, concerned with the pricing, could not decide what to get, hence we settled on 2 different set lunch, another appetiser and a main for the 3 of us. As I understand, sharing of food in a fine-dinning environment is considered rude, but seeing that we are a family, the server is kind enough to check if we would like to share the food we have ordered. And this, I was not even expecting it. As usual, my Sis 自戀-ing... while waiting for lunch to be served. Cream of Carrot Soup with Vegetable Cigar Mesclun Green with Lemon Vinaigrette & Shreds of Duck Confit ![]() Smoked Duck & Mango Salad with Pomelo in Lemongrass Dressing (SGD 8) This is awesome!! Sweetness & juiciness of the mango and pomelo exploding in your mouth, with a hint of sourness -- both light & refreshing. Amazing mix of texture and flavour from the ingredients. Tender smoked duck, cruchy pomelo & vegetables and soft mango... YUMMY YUMMY!! Service was outstanding!! Never did our glasses went below 3/4, nor a plate remained done without very prompt but non-intrusive service. They changed our side plates for us, even when it's used but not dirty. Slow-cooked free-range Boneless Chicken Leg in Molee Sauce served with Naan This dish might not seems that yummy, but it's fabulous!! -- agreed upon by Mum & Sis. I'm not that much of a chicken fan, but I cannot resist this dish, and helped myself to more than I expected. The meat was tender, not overcooked nor undercooked -- no blood streaks was seen, and the sauce matched the flavour of chicken and goes well with Naan. Mum was snatching up the Naan when we are not noticing!! Mornay Torched Pan-seared Dory Fillet with Mashed Potato & Asparagus Spears Grilled Fresh Salmon with Chiura crust & Asparagus Spears in Coriander Tarator & Tzatziki (SGD 32) White Chocolate Chip Brownie with Caramel Sauce 。Peppermint Ice Cream with Almond Tuile ![]() More food photos~~ The table is completely filled!! HAHAH! Not cause we ordered too much, but the plates are BIG!! XD Labels: Food review |
